This mod fixes several performance issues, including the use of AMD SMT. It also fixes some bugs, such as AVX crashes, and adds fun hacks to the game (such as enabling a debug menu). If you're tied to a GPU, you won't see an increase in performance at an average FPS value, but you should see fewer FPS drops.
